Moodle integration

Hi everyone,

many courses at my university at TU Wien use markup. Is there a solution for integrating a self-hosted HedgeDoc server into Moodle - e.g. via a plugin, via an external tool (LTI standard)? I have checked the documentation and I did not find a hint concerning this, or did I miss it? Any thoughts?

Thank you and keep up the great work!

Cheers,
Gergely

Hi @gergelyrakoczi and welcome to the HedgeDoc community!

Unfortunately, there’s currently no real endpoint to connect external applications with HedgeDoc 1.x.
This might become possible using the API of HedgeDoc 2.0 in the future. Unless then, there’s nothing really you can do about it, sorry.

I use HedgeDoc extensively in my undergrad and post-grad courses and in our hackerspace, as told in a previous post. And while I don’t use/like Moodle in particular or the general concept of a LMS in general, we integrate HedgeDoc to our formal and informal learning practices/environments by connecting it to external systems like mdBook and Hypothesis, using our software to support customized workflows. You can see the interactive notebook where we are documenting (in Spanish) the export of HedgeDocs collections as an mdBook publication in Fossil, which allow us to use Hypothesis for commenting snapshots of our documents.

Approaches like the previous one allows to “connect” the output of HedgeDoc to other platforms, while the 2.0x version is out.

Hope that helps and let me know if you need more details.

Dear @ErikMichelson,
thank you very much for your prompt clarification. This is helpful information for us and we are looking forward to HedgeDoc 2.0 future developments.
Cheers,
Gergely

Dear @offray, also thank you for sharing your interesting approach with us. We have discussed it. As the requirement is not that important currently at our university we will go with 2.0 version.
Cheers,
Gergely
